Homestay in Balmain

Here's a quick rundown of the place:

We have a large pool, spa pool, sauna, gym and a shared private lawn with barbecue. We are surrounded by parks and metres from a Chinese restaurant, cafe, liquor/convenience store, a day spa with floatation tanks and free tennis courts.

The room itself faces a park, has ducted aircon, linens, towels, a desk, lamp and monitor. It has a toilet across the hall and a bathroom with shower shared with only two other people.

We are Australian and New Zealand citizens, and my wife has Thai citizenship too. We are in our 40s, and have been married more than 20 years. Our lovely 18-year-old son is in his last year of school and loves volleyball and American football. Our fun 21-year-old son is at TAFE for his tertiary studies.

We've lived in Balmain for fifteen years and we love it here! It's full of restaurants and pubs. It's like a small village right next to the city out on its own peninsula into the harbour. We are one bridge away from the city. It is one of the best (and most expensive) suburbs in Sydney. We are ten minutes walk from buses that go to the city every few minutes. Balmain is where thousands of people come to watch the New Year’s Eve fireworks on the harbour bridge.

We eat a mixture of Asian (particularly Thai) and European food. I think it's fair to say we're pretty good cooks. Some of us eat anything, some avoid red meat. We sometimes eat vegetarian meals.

It would be great if you're friendly, tidy and quiet. Absolutely no smoking inside or out. No heavy drinkers. I'm sorry your pets can't come with you, but we do have a tiny dwarf rabbit who hangs out in the living room. Everyone in our home does a few chores and occasionally cooks. (It would be great to try your food!) This isn't a hotel, it's a family. We are looking for someone who wants to join us and stay in touch for years to come! We'd love to show you around!

We’ve had three homestayers here who had a great time and particularly complimented the food! They've recommended their visiting friends to stay.

We are warm and friendly people, always making jokes and laughing. The lovely Thai Mum started her stay in New Zealand at a homestay and she still keeps in touch with them. The friendly Kiwi Dad had a homestay student from Sweden when he was a teen who came to visit recently, 35 years later.
