Hello, my name is Yvette, and I am currently studying at the University of Sydney.
I am hoping to move into a homestay around February 2027 for approximately –4 months during the university semester. I will need to return overseas during the break, but if we get along well, I would be very happy to stay with the same family again the following semester.
After living away from my family for several years, I have realised how much I miss the warmth of home. I am not simply looking for a room to rent. I would love to stay with a warm and welcoming family where people enjoy talking, spending time together and sharing some everyday family life. I would love to have someone to chat with at the end of the day, while still respecting everyone’s privacy and personal space.
I am an INFP and an Aries. I am naturally quite introverted, but friendly, lively and talkative once I feel comfortable. I have lived and studied in Los Angeles, China, Toronto and now Sydney, so I am comfortable with different cultures and family lifestyles.
I enjoy watching TV shows, playing video games, playing musical instruments and exploring Sydney. I also love both dogs and cats. I have a dog back home and would happily help walk a dog regularly, even every day. I am also very happy to stay with a family with children.
I usually eat one main meal a day and especially enjoy Chinese food. I often arrange my own meals, so I do not need food prepared for me every day. I would still enjoy sharing meals with the family occasionally.
For accommodation, I am looking for a relatively spacious private bedroom with a king-size or double-size bed and good storage space. A private bathroom is essential, and a bathtub would be a lovely bonus. I also own a rowing machine, so some extra space would be helpful.
My first preference is somewhere close to the University of Sydney or Sydney CBD, especially Barangaroo or The Rocks. I am also open to the North Shore or other northern suburbs if the family and home are a particularly good fit. Safety and convenient public transport are very important to me.
I am a non-smoker and strongly prefer a non-smoking household, especially one where cannabis or marijuana is not smoked. I do not host parties and I am happy to follow reasonable household routines or curfews. I usually aim to be home by around 10 pm.
I am starting my homestay search early because I would rather take the time to find a family and home that feel genuinely right for both sides.
If you feel we might be a good fit, I would really appreciate the chance to meet in person or have a video call before making any arrangements. If convenient, I would also love to visit the home and meet the family beforehand.
Ultimately, I am hoping to find a warm home that I can genuinely look forward to coming back to, with people to talk to and a real sense of belonging.
